Ideal, it couldn't be better, in the large shopping centre "Blue Route Mall" directly on the other side of Tokai Road. Here you can find a number of different speciality shops and boutiques, a large supermarket, several bank branches and a few cafes and fast-food restaurants. There is a gas station right next to it. The small shopping centre with a wine shop, petrol station, bike shop and three restaurants is even closer, about 200 meters away, on the other side of Tokai Road.
There are 2 first-class golf courses in the immediate vicinity ....
Steenberg Golf Club:
18 holes (par 72) 6,424 meters - built by Peter Matkovich, it circles the club's own Steenberg Country House. The course is beautifully located on the back of Table Mountain on the gentle foothills of the Silverline Mountain and the 'Elephant's Eye'. It begins on the wooded, lower-lying part of the property on which the first 6 holes are located. The area changes dramatically on the following holes. Large grass bunkers, rocky mountain rivers and strategically placed water hazards are now the rules. In addition, slopes on many fairways make the game more difficult. Soft spikes required.
West Lake Golf Club:
The Cape's Most Popular Course, founded in 1932, welcomes members and visitors with its special blend of old-world charm and modern facilities in an atmosphere of easy familiarity and friendship. The Westlake golf course is located in an unspoilt natural setting and is comparable to the best in the country. Eighteen holes of immaculate fairways and greens make for an unforgettable golfing experience.
Another golf course in the wider region:
Atlantic Beach Golf Club, Cape Town - Links-style young championship course (par 72), built in the tradition of St. Andrews and Pebble Beach. The course is located on the west coast of Cape Town.
All of our holiday homes and apartments are located in the Constantia Valley. Constantia and Tokai are both very easy to reach via the two expressways M3 and M5, which can be reached from the N2 motorway, which runs directly past the airport, before Cape Town (Mowbray). The holiday properties are approx. 1-2 km from the M3 exit "Kendall Road" or "Tokai Road", very conveniently located to all points of interest to tourists.
Distance to Sights:
Short drive to the sea in the southwest (Muizenberg at False Bay, 15km) and in the west (Milnerton at Table Bay, 20km) Further: Table Mountain (cable car) 20 km, Cape nature reserve 30 km, Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden 5 km, V&A Waterfront 25 km, Parliament, Kloof Street and Malay Quarter 25 km, and much more.
Excursions / Tours:
We organize guided day tours in the Winelands (with several wine tastings) and in other regions of great interest. Or we instruct our guests to go on tours on their own, e.g. to the Cape of Good Hope. This starts in Muizenberg, goes along False Bay to Cape Point Nature Park. From there another 13 km to the end of the peninsula. The way back leads over Scarborough and Misty Cliffs to Noordhoek, from there over the dream road at Chapmans Peak to Hout Bay, over the hill to Llundudno, along with the 12 apostles to Camps Bay, then over the gold mile from Clifton, Bantry and Sea Point to Cape Town, along Table Mountain to Newlands, Bishops Court and Kirstenbosch back to Constantia. A wonderful day trip with many sights and inviting restaurants along the way.
"Cape of Good Wines":
On the Constantia Valley Wine Route, you can get to know the famous wineries in the green valley of Constantia. Groot Constantia was founded in 1685 and given to the first governor on the Cape, Simon van der Stel, as an experimental farm for agricultural products, who mainly developed viticulture and made Constantia wine world-famous. In 1925 the Cape Dutch mansion burned down completely. After its reconstruction, it now houses a museum that gives an insight into the life of the first Cape settlers. A stroll through the extensive estate is worthwhile for the great view of the Constantia Valley alone. The access via an avenue lined by mighty oaks is an experience. A stone's throw away is the Klein Constantia Winery, famous for its white wines and the dessert wine Vin de Constance, Constantia Uitsig and Buitenverwachting. At the end of the valley is the renowned Steenberg Winery. On the way to Hout Bay, you pass other very exclusive wineries that have produced world-class wines in recent years: Constantia Glen, Eagles Nest, High Constantia and Beau Constantia, as well as Silvermist Estate behind Constantia Nek.
Eating and drinking in Cape Town:
The supply situation for basic foods of all kinds and delicacies in and around Cape Town can only be described as excellent. The partly first-class products from South Africa are available in supermarkets such as Pick 'n Pay, Woolworth's or Checkers, as well as numerous top products from Europe (especially from Germany, Italy and England). The range extends from Italian noodles, French cheese, German baked goods and sausages as well as very high-quality meat from (mostly) South Africa and Namibia. A very large selection of mid-range to top-quality wines from the Winelands in the Western Cape is available in supermarkets and special liquor shops.
The Western Cape is also reflected in the extraordinary variety of food and drinks. There are excellent Indians, sophisticated Malays and Thais, down-to-earth Germans or traditional Boers. Here you can dine home-style or exclusive. Good restaurants in the vicinity: Constantia = Italian Kitchen (great pizza, steaks and fish), Primi Piatti (noodle, pizza), Pastis (French cuisine, great outdoor area), Jonkershuis at Groot Constantia, Steenberg Village = Jake's in the Village (everything delicious), Cape Town Fish Market (fish, sushi)… .uuunnnddd…. La Colombe (one of the "Ten Worlds Best Restaurants", and in Hout Bay = Cheyne's (high quality, but inexpensive), and Dunes (good food, reasonable prices, lovely outdoor seating on the beach with a view of the sea).
Sports enthusiasts can use the nearby Virgin Active gyms in Constantia or West Lake, as well as several tennis courts. Horseback riding, long hikes and various water sports are possible in the valley and at False Bay. Kirstenbosch: The Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is world-famous for the beauty and diversity of its Cape Flora and its great location at the last foothills of Table Mountain. Here you will find a man who is only 52 years old and has Fynbos cultures and naturally occupied forests. The cultivated garden shows a collection of plants from the winter rain conflicts.
Healthcare is located in the Western Cape Province and here in Cape Town and the surrounding area. In addition to the stately clinics, which are subject to a fee, there is separate access to certain special clinics, such as Medi-Clinic and Melomed Private Hospital (in Tokai with stroke unit). Other personal names with other renown are Vincent Pallotti Hospital, Kingsbury Hospital and Groote Schuur (location of the world's first heart transplant). The quality of the doctors is at the highest international level. Numerous South African doctors were administered in Europe or the USA. The technical equipment is excellent, e.g. at orthodontists and ophthalmologists. As an alternative to their own branch/practice, doctors get together in medical centres, e.g. from Red Cross. The facilities with contracts are nationwide with affected pharmacies.
In order to properly explore the Cape Peninsula and the nearby wine country and to really enjoy the beauty of the landscapes, a rental car with unlimited kilometres is strongly recommended. If this is not desired, the following alternatives remain: Using taxi services, especially from UBER, is very easy and inexpensive in and around Cape Town. Several vehicles are always available in our area (2-5 minutes travel time). For day trips, e.g. for wine tasting in the wine country around Stellenbosch, we are happy to arrange a rental car (limousine or minibus) with a driver at reasonable prices. If possible, we are happy to coordinate several of our guests on joint excursions and share the costs accordingly. Regardless of the choice of individual transport, a round trip with one of the red double-decker buses is highly recommended: easy and flexible to use ("hop-on, hop-off"), inexpensive in price and with a highly efficient experience factor!
We can also help you rent a suitable and inexpensive car. Our local (German) partners can quite often offer cheaper rates than those known worldwide, whereby the quality of the cars corresponds at least to international standards. We can also offer you day tours, e.g. in the Winelands around Stellenbosch/Franschhoek/Paarl with or without a driver and/or a qualified guide. In addition, shark diving with the team of one of the best experts in South Africa or other activities. Bookings in the numerous very good restaurants in the Constantia Valley or elsewhere on the Cape Peninsula are a matter of course, according to your taste and daily appetite.
